The continuation of the galactic era

The 2002/03 season is one of Iker's most complete seasons, being named for the second consecutive year, second best goalkeeper in the world by the IFFHS company, which is a great achievement.  In terms of titles, he won the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, in addition to his second National League Championship. In the Champions League, the team reached the semifinals of the competition for the fourth consecutive year, being eliminated by Juventus.

In the 2003/04 season and with Carlos Queiroz replacing del Bosque, the team began the season by winning the Spanish Super Cup and completed until March 2004, an impeccable campaign, exhibiting a great level of play, which placed them leaders in La Liga, qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals after eliminating FC Bayern in the round of 16 and finalists of the Copa del Rey.

 It was after that Cup final, played in the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc in Barcelona against Real Zaragoza, which Real lost 2-3 in extra time, and after the quarter-final of the Champions League against AS Monaco, in which Madrid was eliminated in the second leg played in Montercarlo by 3-1, unable to keep the advantage of the 4-2 first leg result, when the team started a decline that lasted until the end of the season.
