His debut as a senior international was on June 3, 2000 in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the friendly match prior to Euro 2000, Sweden 1-1 Spain.70 His debut in an official competition match followed on September 2, 2000 in a Bosnia 1-2 Spain match in Sarajevo, a qualifier for the 2002 World Cup.71
