In the last 12 matchdays, Los Blancos only scored 11 out of 36 points, finishing fourth, 7 points behind the leaders, a league won by Valencia CF with 77 points. The following two seasons, the team did not win any title, which led to the resignation of president Florentino Pérez in March 2006, and elections for the presidency of the club were called in the summer of 2006, in which Ramón Calderón was elected. Florentino was a good coach of Real Madrid, but after failing to win titles, he had to leave. Another coach come to help Real Madrid

It paralyzed the whole sport in Spain and Portugal, which was on tenterhooks to know more about his health condition. Fortunately he was able to recover, but since then he has had to stay away from the field of play. He has been and will be one of the best goalkeepers giving us our great World Cup in 2010, nothing more to say. Thank you Iker.

The victories of Spain

In 2010, Casillas captained the national team to the World Cup title. In the World Cup final against the Netherlands on July 11, 2010 in Johannesburg, he had an outstanding performance, with two decisive interventions in two one-on-ones with Arjen Robben, in the 62nd minute, deflecting his shot with his foot, and in the 83rd minute, getting in front of the Dutchman's shot. Throughout the championship, he made outstanding performances in the round of 16 against Portugal, in the quarterfinals against Paraguay, saving Cardozo's penalty and in the semifinals against Germany. It should be noted that, as in Euro 2008 and Euro 2012, Iker did not concede a goal in the knockout rounds.  On an individual level, he received the "Golden Glove" as the best goalkeeper of the championship and was included in the "All-Star Team", composed of the best eleven players of the tournament. In the European Championship held in Poland and Ukraine, he captained the national team to

With the lower categories of the Spanish national team he was champion of the U-16 European Championship in 1997 and champion of the U-20 World Cup in 1999 along with Xavi Hernandez, where despite starting as a substitute for goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia, older (20 years old to Iker's 17) and more experienced, he stood out for his performance in the quarterfinals, during the penalty shootout against Ghana.

On an individual level, Iker Casillas won his first Zamora Trophy, ahead of the azulgrana goalkeeper, Víctor Valdés. Casillas signed a contract extension until 2017 and a termination clause of 113 million euros. The 2008/09 season ended without titles for the team, finishing runners-up in La Liga and eliminated in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey and against Liverpool FC in the round of 16 of the Champions League. At the institutional level, Ramón Calderón resigned as president of the club in January 2009, after uncovering the fraud that had taken place in the last Assembly, in which non-committed members had acted as such. Elections were called for the summer of 2009, in which only the former president, Florentino Pérez, presented the necessary guarantee of 57.3 million euros in the registry of the Electoral Board, and was sworn in as the new president on June

Start of the Calderón era

In the 2006/07 season, the new Madrid president, Ramón Calderón, hired Fabio Capello as coach, who returned to the club ten years later. As in the 1996/97 season, his team won the league title, completing a great comeback. Real Madrid arrived at the Clásico at Camp Nou on matchday 28, five points behind Barça and just after their elimination in the round of 16 of the Champions League against FC Bayern.  The team completed a great match, which ended 3-3, from which Madrid came out of the game much stronger. In the last ten matchdays remaining, the team scored 25 of the 30 points at stake, including two epic last-minute comebacks against Español and Recreativo, which were enough to win the 30th league title in the club's history and the third for Iker Casillas. In the 2007/08 season and with Bernd Schuster as coach, Madrid retained the league title, 18 points ahead of Barcelona, whom they welcomed as champions at the Bernabéu with a 4-1 victory and the traditional 'pasillo'

The continuation of the galactic era

The 2002/03 season is one of Iker's most complete seasons, being named for the second consecutive year, second best goalkeeper in the world by the IFFHS company, which is a great achievement.  In terms of titles, he won the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, in addition to his second National League Championship. In the Champions League, the team reached the semifinals of the competition for the fourth consecutive year, being eliminated by Juventus. In the 2003/04 season and with Carlos Queiroz replacing del Bosque, the team began the season by winning the Spanish Super Cup and completed until March 2004, an impeccable campaign, exhibiting a great level of play, which placed them leaders in La Liga, qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals after eliminating FC Bayern in the round of 16 and finalists of the Copa del Rey.  It was after that Cup final, played in the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc in Barcelona against Real Zaragoza, which Real lost 2-3 in extra time,
